Product Overview

The CAMTOP Emergency Shutdown Panel (ESD Panel) is a long-range capital control system for surface well testing operations. It controls the surface safety valve (SSV) and provides rapid, reliable shut-down of high-pressure well fluids in the event of an emergency.

The ESD panel is mainly composed of the control cabinet and managed air/hydraulic supply lines. The surface safety valve (SSV) is the fail-safe close (often-closing) type. During normal operation, the ESD control system continuously supplies pressure to keep the SSV open. When the control system releases the pressure (manually, automatically, or via ESD signal), the SSV closes at maximum speed to control the high-pressure fluid.

Constructed from AISI 4130 alloy steel with 316 stainless-steel assembly, the CAMTOP ESD panel is qualified for oil & gas and H2S service environments.

Working Principle

The ESD panel continuously supplies pilot pressure (40–100 psi air) to the surface safety valve (SSV) via the Haskel M-110 air pump or equivalent. As long as the pressure is maintained, the SSV remains in the open position and well flow continues uninterrupted.

When the operator manually triggers ESD, when a process safety signal is received, or when the pneumatic supply is interrupted, the ESD panel releases the pilot pressure. The fail-safe SSV closes at maximum speed, isolating the high-pressure well fluid and protecting downstream equipment and personnel.

The 8-gallon hydraulic reservoir and the hand-level manual pump provide backup pressure capability during commissioning, testing and emergency situations.
