Product Overview
CAMTOP Kelly Valve is a manually operated ball type drill stem valve, divided into upper Kelly valve and lower Kelly valve. The upper Kelly valve is connected between the lower end of the swivel and the upper end of the Kelly; the lower Kelly valve is connected between the upper end of the drill pipe and the lower end of the Kelly, or between the lower end of the Kelly and saver subs.
The valve can be opened or closed by only turning the special operating wrench 90° according to the indicating direction. During drilling operation, Kelly valves are installed at both the upper and lower ends of the Kelly to provide reliable well control.
Sealing Principle
The sealing principle of the Kelly valve is that the ball is positioned and provided with preceeding stress by the lower seat supported by spring load, forming a close seal between the ball and ball seat. During normal drilling operation, the hole is kept unblocked by turning the stem to the “on” position. In case of kick or blowout, turn the operating stem to the “off” position to close off the internal bore of the drill string. The kick or blowout accident is avoided due to the high-pressure sealing situation between the ball and ball seat.
