Q: What is the difference between API 6B and API 6BX flanges?
A: API 6B flanges are used for pressures up to 5,000 psi and use R or RX ring gaskets. API 6BX flanges are designed for higher pressures (10,000 psi and above) and use BX pressure-energized ring gaskets that provide self-sealing capability under pressure. 6BX flanges always have a raised face, while 6B flanges may have raised or full faces depending on the manufacturer.

Q: What pressure ratings do CAMTOP API 6A flanges cover?
A: CAMTOP manufactures API 6A flanges across the complete pressure range from 2M (2,000 psi / 13.8 MPa) through 30M (30,000 psi / 207 MPa). Each pressure class corresponds to a specific API designation: 2M, 3M, 5M, 10M, 15M, 20M, and 30M. We also support legacy 960 psi and 2900 psi configurations.

Q: What material grades are available for CAMTOP flanges?
A: Standard materials include ASTM A105 carbon steel for general service, ASTM A350 LF2 for low-temperature service, and AISI 4130/4140 alloy steel for high-pressure applications. For sour gas (H₂S) environments, we provide NACE MR0175 compliant materials with controlled hardness levels. Stainless steel options are available for corrosive environments.

Q: Are CAMTOP flanges compatible with other manufacturers’ equipment?
A: Yes. All CAMTOP API 6A flanges are manufactured to exact API dimensional standards, ensuring full interchangeability with flanges from any API-licensed manufacturer. Ring grooves, bolt patterns, and hub dimensions are identical across all compliant suppliers, allowing seamless integration into existing wellhead assemblies.

Q: What is the difference between R, RX, and BX ring gaskets?
A: R gaskets are oval cross-section gaskets used in 6B flanges at lower pressures. RX gaskets are interchangeable with R but have an enhanced octagonal profile with a pressure-energizing feature. BX gaskets are pressure-energized, fully confined gaskets designed exclusively for 6BX high-pressure flanges. BX gaskets are not interchangeable with R or RX profiles.

Q: Do you provide complete bolt sets with your flanges?
A: Yes. CAMTOP can supply complete stud bolt sets with each flange order, including ASTM A193 B7 all-thread studs with ASTM A194 2H nuts for standard service, or ASTM A193 L7 tap-end studs for low-temperature applications. Each set is sized to the correct API 6A length and quantity for the specific flange size and pressure rating.

Q: What testing is performed on CAMTOP flanges before delivery?
A: Every flange undergoes material verification (PMI), dimensional inspection, hydrostatic testing at 1.5× rated working pressure, hardness testing for NACE compliance, and NDE (ultrasonic and dye penetrant) as required. Complete test reports and material certificates are provided with each shipment.
