Operating Principle
The CAMTOP BOP Testing Unit uses a pneumatically- or electrically-driven high-pressure pump to deliver controlled hydraulic pressure to the BOP stack, choke / kill lines, or Christmas tree under test. The operator sets the target test pressure on the panel; the system pressurizes slowly and holds the pressure for the duration of the test while the API 16D chart recorder plots a continuous pressure-vs-time trace.
Should the pressure drop below the test threshold, the operator can re-pressurize the system from the local panel or from a remote station. A manual vent valve provides controlled depressurization at the end of each test.
Typical Applications
- On-site hydrostatic pressure testing of BOP stacks (annular, ram, and choke & kill BOPs)
- Pressure testing of wellhead Christmas trees and production assemblies
- Choke & kill line pressure verification
- Surface equipment integrity verification after refurbishment
- Shop testing of pressure-containing components prior to dispatch
- Onshore and offshore drilling rigs, workover spreads, and well-test spreads
- Compliance testing per API 16D, API 16A, and operator-specific well control procedures
