The CAMTOP 7-1/16″ 10M psi Bolted-Cover Spherical BOP (API 16A / 16D Class) is a forged-alloy-steel pressure-control preventer engineered for oil & gas wellhead service on onshore and offshore drilling rigs. The bolted-cover design — studded upper housing + flanged lower housing — allows complete field rebuild of packing elements and seals without removing the BOP from the wellhead, dramatically reducing rig downtime.

6. How It Works

The CAMTOP Bolted-Cover Spherical BOP operates on the same sealing principle as a standard spherical preventer, but is designed for convenient field rebuild via the studded upper cover.

1. Closed Position (Default) — A spherical steel piston carrying a replaceable elastomer packer (Blue Nitrile or Red Natural) sits inside the spherical chamber. The piston is held closed by spring force plus wellbore pressure acting on the chamber.
2. Open Position — Hydraulic pressure is applied to the chamber port, driving the piston downward and compressing the elastomer packer open. This allows pipe movement, tripping, or open-hole drilling.
3. Closed / Seal Position — Hydraulic pressure is released; the elastomer packer expands and closes around the drill pipe (or fully seals an open hole when no pipe is present).
4. Field Rebuild — Loosen the Stud Set (150989) + Nut Set (020111), lift off the Upper Housing-Studded (150983), and replace wear bands (152344 / 150613), packers (150987 / 150988), and seals (031102 / 031100 / 030765 / 030773 / 031035) without removing the lower housing from the wellhead.

Wear Band Function

• Adapter Ring Wear Band (152344) — protects the adapter ring sealing surface from scoring during piston reciprocation.
