Drill Pipe Float Valves (DPFV) are one-way check valves installed inside the drill string to prevent drilling fluid, cuttings, and formation back-flow from entering the drill pipe while making connections. CAMTOP DPFVs are manufactured as direct equivalents to Baker SPD Models F, FA, G, GA, GC, and GCA — covering both plunger type (F, FA) and flapper type full-flow (G, GA, GC, GCA) configurations. Working Principle
Model F — Plunger Type: A spring-loaded plunger sits in the valve seat, held open by upward mud flow during circulation. The instant circulation stops (or flow reverses when making a connection), the spring snaps the plunger into the closed seat, creating an instant positive seal. Cuttings cannot enter the drill string, and fluid back-flow is blocked.
Model G — Flapper Type Full-Flow: A spring-tensioned flapper disc swings open on a hinge to provide a completely unrestricted bore when circulation is active. The moment flow stops, the flapper closes instantly by spring action. The full-bore design is especially effective with abrasive fluids and high-volume circulation, complementing blowout prevention equipment as part of the complete internal pressure control system.
Model GA / GC / GCA: Add carbide orifice (for surface dP monitoring) and/or automatic fill (for pressure-surge prevention during run-in) to the base G design.
