Description
CAMTOP Valve Puller — Model F & G Series for Float Valve Retrieval
The CAMTOP Valve Puller is a specialized downhole fishing tool designed to retrieve stuck, damaged, or tight float valves and plug-retention assemblies from drill collars, tubing subs, and float equipment. Available in two purpose-built series — Model F (single-purpose) and Model G (dual-purpose) — CAMTOP valve pullers provide reliable valve extraction during tripping operations, workover interventions, and BOP stack assembly.
Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel with heat-treated engagement catches, every CAMTOP valve puller is engineered to engage the bottom of the float valve with positive locking action, rotate 90° to seat the catch, and then lift the valve out using the integrated bumper stop. The Model G series adds the ability to remove and install seal-retaining rings when changing valve seals — saving rig time during seal-replacement operations.

Model F (F/FC/FA) Series — Single-Purpose Puller

Model G (G/GA/GC/GCA) Series — Dual-Purpose Puller

Key Features
- Two Product Series: Model F (F/FC/FA) for single-purpose valve retrieval, Model G (G/GA/GC/GCA) for dual-purpose retrieval + seal-retaining-ring service.
- Positive Engagement Catch: Heat-treated alloy-steel catch seats firmly into the bottom of the float valve body — no slippage under heavy pull loads.
- 90° Engagement Rotation: Standard quarter-turn engagement after catch insertion makes the puller ready for lifting.
- Integrated Bumper Stop: Built-in shoulder limits travel inside the sub / drill collar, protecting the catch from over-stress during engagement.
- Model FC Special Note: When retrieving an FC valve, the catch must be positioned to avoid contact with the releasing key.
- Dual-Purpose Model G: In addition to valve retrieval, the G-series tool assists with removing and installing the seal-retaining ring during valve-seal change-out.
- High-Strength Alloy Steel: Forged AISI 4140 / 4145 alloy steel body with through-hardening for maximum tensile and impact resistance.
- Field-Replaceable Catch: Worn or damaged engagement catches can be replaced in the field without scrapping the tool body.
- Multiple Sizes Available: Standard sizes to fit API float-valve seat diameters from 3-1/2″ to 9-1/2″ (custom sizes on request).
- Compatible with Standard Lift Tools: Top pin designed for standard wireline / drilling jars / elevator handling.

Working Principle
The CAMTOP Valve Puller is run into the well on standard wireline, drill pipe, or jar assembly until it reaches the float-valve seat inside the sub or drill collar. The engagement catch is lowered past the valve body, then the tool is rotated 90° to seat the catch into the valve’s machined extraction profile. Once seated, the integrated bumper stop shoulders against the top of the float-valve body, transferring pulling force directly from the drill string to the valve. The valve can then be lifted out and recovered at the surface.
For the Model G series, the same tool body additionally features a slot profile that matches the float-valve seal-retaining ring. This allows the operator to push the ring out of its groove for seal replacement, and to re-install a new ring during re-assembly — eliminating the need to run a second specialized tool.
Applications
- Drill Collar Float-Valve Retrieval: Remove stuck or damaged float valves from drill collars during tripping operations
- Tubing Sub Float-Valve Service: Retrieve flapper / poppet valves from landing subs and tubing accessories
- BOP Stack Float Equipment: Service float-valve assemblies inside BOP-related downhole equipment
- Workover & Plug-and-Abandon Operations: Recover float valves prior to milling or section abandonment
- Fishing Jobs: Retrieve accidentally dropped or stuck float-valve components
- Model G — Seal Change-Out: Use the same tool to remove and replace the seal-retaining ring during valve seal replacement
- Rig Maintenance Shutdown: Pull float valves for inspection and re-install during scheduled downtime
- Drill String Component Test: Service float-valve seats during drill string pressure-test preparation
Why Choose CAMTOP
- Complete Valve Coverage: One product family covers all major float-valve models — F, FC, FA, G, GA, GC, GCA — simplifying inventory.
- Time-Saving Dual-Purpose Tool: Model G’s seal-retaining-ring capability eliminates a separate run, saving rig time and reducing HSE exposure.
- Heavy-Duty Construction: Forged 4140/4145 alloy-steel body with heat-treated catch rated for repeated high-tension pulls.
- Field-Serviceable: Catches are field-replaceable with standard hand tools — no need to return the tool to base for maintenance.
- Size Flexibility: Standard and custom seat-OD sizes to match all major float-valve seat dimensions.
- Traceable Quality: Each tool serialized with material certificates (EN 10204 3.1) and full dimensional inspection report.
