Description

Heavy Load Tubing Clamp for Coiled Tubing Service

The CAMTOP Heavy Load Tubing Clamp is a rugged, slip-type handling clamp purpose-built for coiled tubing (CT) operations. It is used to safely hold and support the coiled tubing string during surface equipment repair, CT cutting, fishing, and other wellsite interventions — preventing the string from slipping or falling into the wellbore.

Manufactured from forged alloy steel with QPQ (Quench-Polish-Quench) coated wear surfaces and corrosion-resistant hardware, the clamp delivers consistent 20–30 ton load capacity across the full CT OD range of 1 1/4″ through 3″. Its simple, robust design ensures fast rig-up, easy field maintenance, and reliable performance in NACE MR0175 H2S / CO2 service.

Operating Principle

The CAMTOP Tubing Clamp is operated manually or with auxiliary hydraulic assist. The body is positioned around the coiled tubing; serrated slip inserts are then driven into contact with the OD, transferring the suspended tubing load into the clamp body and then through the lift bail to the crane or rig floor. The QPQ-coated slip surfaces bite into the tubing without crushing or damaging the wall, providing a secure hold even under shock loads.

During coiled tubing repair, cutting, or surface-equipment maintenance, the clamp prevents the string from accidentally falling into the wellbore — a critical safety function on any CT operation.

Typical Applications

  • Coiled tubing surface equipment repair and replacement
  • Coiled tubing cutting and fishing operations
  • Wellhead and BOP stack intervention
  • CT injector head maintenance
  • Stuck-pipe recovery and string back-off operations
  • Storage and handling of long CT strings at the wellsite
  • Onshore and offshore CT unit spreads
  • Sour-service (H2S / CO2) operations

Why Choose CAMTOP

  • Forged Alloy Steel — Tough enough for repeated field use without deformation or cracking
  • QPQ Surface Treatment — Three times the wear life of conventional chrome-plated slips
  • Full Size Range — One supplier for every CT OD from 1 1/4″ through 3″
  • Safety-Critical Design — Each clamp is load-tested at 1.25× rated capacity before shipment
  • Compatible with All Major CT Units — Engineered to integrate with standard lift bails and crane hooks
  • Fast Spare Delivery — Replacement slip inserts and hardware available ex-stock
  • Engineering Support — Our team can recommend the right clamp size for your specific CT string and load profile
