Product Overview
CAMTOP Y Type Slip Elevators are hoisting tools for handling tubing, drill pipe, casing, electric submersible pump and other tubular goods in oil and gas drilling and production operations. They are especially suitable for integral-joint tubing and non-coupled casing.
Each elevator is constructed in two halves of practically equal weight, with four slip bodies and matched inserts, providing balance and easier opening and closing. All CAMTOP Slip Elevators are designed and manufactured in accordance with API Spec 8C — Specification for Drilling and Production Hoisting Equipment.

Structural Components
CAMTOP Y Type Slip Elevator consists of the following main components: guide plate, left and right body halves, setting ring, slip body, latch spring, latch lock, latch, hinge pin, latch pin, link block, insert, set ring, and fasteners. The left and right bodies are specifically matched in pairs and should not be interchanged with bodies from another elevator.
Installation & Operation
Installation: Install the elevator on the links by removing the link retainer nut, hooking the small end of the link through the link retainer opening, and replacing the link retainer bolt and nut. Repeat on the other link arm. To remove, simply reverse the installation process.
Operation: Grip the latch lock and pull outward to open the latch. The latch, latch lock assembly and slip bodies move up and down freely so the elevator can be positioned on the pipe. When the elevator is properly closed around the pipe, the latch and latch lock lock automatically.
Important Cautions: Overload is strictly forbidden. When lifting tubulars, slowly lift the elevator until the slip setting ring engages the coupling and the slips are fully set. Never use the elevator to lay down or pick up pipe. Inspect the bore, slip body back cone, insert, latch, latch pin and hinge pin regularly for wear. Do not mix old and new slip inserts or slip bodies.
Maintenance
The elevator should be maintained and inspected in accordance with API RP 8B — Recommended Practice for Inspection and Maintenance of Hoisting Equipment.
Weekly Inspection: Check hinge pin, latch pin and mating parts for wear; verify latch and latch lock performance; inspect latch lock safety mechanism; check spring for damage, deformation or lack of tension; inspect inserts, slip body back cone and elevator cone bore; check all fasteners.
Lubrication: Lubricate the hinge pin, latch pin and latch lock pin daily. Grease the cone bore of the elevator and the back cone of the slip body. Apply grease to springs and all fasteners weekly using an extreme-pressure, multi-purpose lithium base grease (No. 1 or No. 2 consistency).
Repairs: Re-machining and heat treatment must follow API RP 8B. Welding must follow API RP 8B due to complex metallurgy. When grinding, striking or handling parts, always wear gloves and eye protection. Body and door halves are matched in pairs and must not be interchanged.
Transportation and Storage
During transportation, avoid impact and prevent exposure to rain. Store elevators in a dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight, rain, acids, alkalis, salts and other corrosive substances.
